ANAR Studios is a small floral studio based in Queens, NY, independently owned by designer Tawhida Rahman. She studied literature and Psychology and worked in education non-profits for many years until she pivoted to a creative pursuit in New York City’s floral industry in 2021, starting her journey as a designer in luxury weddings and retail.

Born and raised in Queens, Tawhida is a life-long New Yorker who champions local business and first-generation entrepreneurs. ANAR Studios offers its services throughout New York City and beyond.

What initially began as a curious hobby, flowers have become my conduit for breathing life into a unique idea, creative concept, or special celebration; I use them to explore my whimsy & curiosity. I hold a deep interest for weaving art and nature together, pulling inspiration from Baroque still life or intricate Ottoman motifs to natural marsh landscapes and exotic tropical biomes.

My design philosophy surrounds using nature’s elements in unconventional ways. Looking a little closer, flowers have their own complexities & character—opulent and loud or delicate and unassuming. I seek out these elements of contrast when designing to mold something unexpected, capturing their most ephemeral beauty. The intention behind my designs is to evoke femininity and harmony using the natural hues, endless shapes, and unique lines found in flora. As an event florist, flowers lend me an incredibly boundless medium that is artful, sentimental, and stylish all at once.
